![]() This early version of the ring is shown as being powerless against wooden objects. Later writers revised this to be a fragment of an object called the Starheart, the result of the Guardians of the Universe collecting and isolating most of the magic forces in the universe. Īlan Scott's ring is powered by the Green Flame, a magically empowered flame contained within a metallic alien orb that was found and forged into a lantern and ring by a lampmaker named Chang. Creator Martin Nodell has cited Richard Wagner's opera cycle The Ring of the Nibelung and the sight of a trainman's green railway lantern as inspirations for the combination of a magical ring and lantern. The first appearance of a power ring was in All-American Comics #16 on July 14, 1940, the flagship title of comic book publisher All-American Publications, which featured the first appearance of Alan Scott. ![]() The power ring first appeared in All-American Comics #16 on July 14, 1940. On one given day at least, Harley Quinn was a better Green Lantern than Hal Jordan and perhaps that alone is telling as to where readers should rank her among DC's upper echelon.A power ring is an object featured in American comic books published by DC Comics. In actual canon stories where she's kidnapped and nearly killed Batman ( Mad Love by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Glen Murakami) or defeated the likes of Lobo, Shazam, and Black Canary (throughout the Injustice series), perhaps its time to finally give Harley Quinn her due. She's easily one of the most popular, but few give her credit for being one of the best or most skilled. The second issue is where she adds Green Lantern to her hit list, nearly killing him in the process. ![]() The series has seen Harley Quinn defeat the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman. The Harley's Little Black Book series' actual canonical status with the DC Universe is admittedly questionable at best, but it nonetheless highlights the strength and skills of Harley Quinn which often go overlooked or undermined. Not only does she handle her Green Ring with as much ease as the Red and Black Ring, but she is able to defeat the aliens by destroying their ship with a mighty projectile mallet. Even more impressive, when their fight is interrupted by an impending alien invasion (aliens who wind up prying the Red and Black ring away from her), she then acquires a Green Lantern ring off of his finger once Hal is incapacitated. ![]() Despite only having the ring for a couple of hours with no prior training, Harley Quinn mastered the ring with ease, especially in a fight with arguably the most popular Green Lantern. Unfortunately for Hal, that was easier said than done. This new version of Harley nearly destroyed the planet with all of the destruction she caused and the only person who was feasibly capable of stopping her was Green Lantern Corps star graduate, Hal Jordan. Once the one-of-a-kind never used or seen before Red and Black Ring was on Harley Quinn's finger, it supercharged her more evil, chaotic side and she could not wait to unleash it upon the world.
